How long does a Canon t2i Battery Last in video mode?

Hey, I would like to know how long a Canon t2i Battery lasts if I were to keep it recording. Starts recording when the battery life is at 100%.

Continuous Shooting Time:
Approx. 12 min. (1920 x 1080), 18 min. (1280 x 720), 24 min. (640 x 480)
Based on Canon's testing standards using a 4GB card

As you can see, it is not the length of time the battery will last but the maximum shooting time based upon how fast the cameras sensor heats up past its safe temperature.

If you intend to video on a routine basis, think of buying an AC adapter and use the camera attached to the mains.

You can also avoid long takes by using a shooting script and shoot in small increments of like a minute or two.

My personal recommendation is to have at least two Canon BP-511 Battery Packs. Keep one in the camera, keep the other(s)

fully charged in your bag - ready for immediate use. Giving each battery a complete discharge/charge cycle during each use

cannot be bad.

The BP511 is a Li-ion battery pack. The good thing about Li-ion batteries is that they don't suffer from the "memory effect"

that NiCad and NiMH tend to. This means you can charge them whenever you want regardless of whether they are half full or

completely empty. It's still not good practise to overcharge though. Li-ion batteries also generally offer longer life than

other types of battery, and are less weighty as a bonus. Typically though, they tend to me more pricey - so certainly horses

for courses.

Pros:
Most importantly, it is lot cheaper than the BP-511 battery and also has 1600mAh agianst 1100mAh. Fast Charging and Long Life.
 
Cons:
NO cons whatsoever.
