Content management system incorporates all online assets, including editorial, social media, and video.
If you could design a video gaming system, what would you call it and what would it have?

1. Name of system
2. Media (optical disc, Blu-Ray, DVD)
3. Storage
a. Internal (hard disk, Flash memory)
b. External (SD card, USB drives)
4. Graphics
5. Compatibility
6. Extras (just throw in some bonus compatibility or attachments just for the hell of it)
7. Others?

What would you like to see?

Before I list my ideas, I would like to say that if i see anything similar to this in any way shape or form, ill hunt you down and sue you O_o now to get started

1. I would name it something like Vortex or The Dimensia. (maybe the names need revising)

2. I would try to find a new technology that would eliminate Blu-Ray as first place, but would start with blu-ray.

3. I would make an internal hard drive that was replacable if needed (i dont think anybody liked having to go out and buy memory cards to save their games on with the PS1 and 2)

4. I would expect the media to help with the graphics, but I would like them to be realistic, with a beowulf look to it (watch the movie trailer to see what I mean if you haven't already)

5. I would want to make games exclusively for the system, but I would like it to be compatible with games for other platforms, like making it compatible with PS3 and xBox 360 games, etc.

6. Well, I would make the online playing network free; people like that better. I think that the Xbox 360 idea of achievements is a nice touch, maybe throw that in.... I would make the controler easy to learn how to use; I think that when xbox first introduced their controller, it made gamers learn a new style of play that was more difficuly while the playstation controller has a format more easily understood. Something in between.

7. The games should be enjoyable and dinamic, and they should contain more than one story line that seperatly include more than 4 hours of campaign that WONT agetaite the gamer, but make the experience fun. Deffinantly four player games, no one likes not being able to play with all of their buddys.

What would i need to create my very own flash game?

I've been wanting to make a flash game for a while now, but am not sure what i would need. Or what to do with it when i got it. Please help

Assuming you already have a game idea... here's what you'll need to do.

1) Get Adobe Flash Creator -- This is the actual software you need to create Flash animations & games. The actual name of the program is called "Adobe Flash CS4 Professional".

Please be aware that this software costs $700... but there are discounts for the student version. You can pick up a trial version at http://www.adobe.com/go/tryflash

HOWEVER, you don't absolutely need the latest version of the Flash creator software for this as the older versions work just as well. If you're looking save some money, look around for Macromedia Shockwave Flash Creator MX that creates Flash 6.0 / 7.0 items & supports ActionScript 2.0. How you pick up the software is up to you, but you do need at least one version of the creator software for this.

2) LEARN C++ -- Flash uses it's own programming language called "ActionScript" & there's now 3 versions of that (as it evolved over the various versions). You'll most likely want a version of the creator software to support ActionScript 2.0 or higher since it can handle more complex coding.

The main reason WHY I say to learn C++ is that ActionScript practically mirrors C++ in every aspect that I'm aware of. The only exception is that ActionScript is more flexible as it can be done either as time-driven programming (traditional method where the code is executed as written) OR event-driven (where code is executed only when a specific event happens).

Again, if you know C++... ActionScript will become second nature.

3) Get Graphics Editor (like GIMP) for artwork OR get somebody to create the graphics FOR YOU -- The majority of games out there have some amount of graphics. Therefore, you'll need a graphics editor to create the graphics for your game.

You can cough up another $700 for Photoshop CS4, but you can do pretty well with some of the free programs online like GIMP ( http://www.gimp.org ) or Paint.net ( http://www.paint.net )

HOWEVER, if your artistic skills hasn't really developed beyond grade school... You might want to hire, kidnap, blackmail, move in with or anything else to get a artist to do the graphics for you.

Once you have taken care these three requirements, you should have a decent game in the works... assuming your game premise isn't faulty.

What Google's Improved Flash Indexing Means for Your Website

What has changed?

Google can now index the textual content in SWF files of all kinds, including buttons, menus and self-contained Flash websites.

Google can also discover URLs that appear in Flash files and it adds these URLs to the crawling pipeline.

What has not changed?

Google still doesn't recognize the text that appears on images. FLV files, such as YouTube videos also won't be indexed because they don't contain text.

As many Flash websites consist of images and other multimedia elements, the only text that Google finds on these websites might be "Loading", "Please wait" or "Copyright".

Google also cannot execute some JavaScript types. If your website loads a Flash file via JavaScript, Google might not be able to find your Flash file.

In addition, Google cannot attach content from external sources that are loaded by Flash files. If your Flash page loads an HTML or XML file then these files will be treated as separate documents.

Why is Flash still a problem for search engines?

Flash content and regular HTML pages are fundamentally different. Just because Google can now index some text from Flash files doesn't mean that Flash files are now search engine friendly. Here's why:

It's hard to divide the text into meaningful sections. Flash doesn't use
or
tags to separate different sections of text. It's hard to tell what's important and what's not. Even worse, Flash designers often break down words into their individual letters to create "cool" text effects. That means that search engines cannot index these texts.

Usually, the complete content of a website is presented on the same URL. You cannot link to a special part of a Flash website. That means that it is also difficult for search engines to find the relevant section of the Flash site.

In addition, this means that Flash websites don't get good inbound links to the right pages. Most Flash websites only get links to their home page.

The structure of Flash websites makes it difficult to get high rankings. Many Flash files are linked from other Flash files and no other websites link to these internal Flash elements. The lack of links from other websites makes it very difficult to get high rankings for these elements.

Flash doesn't use the basic SEO methods. You won't find proper link texts, headline tags or even properly optimized title tags in most Flash sites. That makes it very difficult to get good rankings.

Most Flash content is still not crawlable. As mentioned above, Google won't index content in images and it has problems with JavaScript calls.

What can you do to improve your rankings if you have a Flash site?

If possible, avoid pure Flash websites and use Flash elements only when needed. If you must use Flash on your website, the following tips will help you to get better rankings:

Include the text and the links from the Flash file in an HTML version on the same page.

Use JavaScript and CSS to find out if the website visitor can parse Flash and then present the CSS DIVs that contain the corresponding content. Regular website users will see the Flash file, visitors who cannot parse Flash (for example search engines) will see the HTML version.

Use CSS and create a layer with your regular HTML content and then position another layer with the Flash content above the HTML layer so that your website visitors only see the Flash content.

Note that search engines might misinterpret this method as a spamming attempt.

Use different URLs for different sections of your website. Each set of content should have its own unique URL.

Flash has not been designed for search engines and it is extremely difficult to get high rankings with pure Flash sites. Using regular optimized web pages is the best way to get in Google's top 10 results.

If you have a pure Flash website, you should make sure that your website has as many good inbound links as possible.

Most modern Point and Shoot cameras have a lot more capability than most people realize. If you seriously expect to take excellent photos with one of these, I suggest you first work out a budget you can live with, and then research cameras within your price range. Read up on all the features and controls available with each model. Features like ISO settings, Arpeture Priority and Shutter Priority, color balance, image stabilization and such can mean that the camera is able to capture good images in great variety of situations. And, in the hands of someone who knows how to use it, this means more good shots.

When you finally decide and purchase the unit you like, take the time to read the manual from cover to cover and to spend the time practicing each feature until you really know how to use your camera. That way, you won't have to depend on luck as often to get a good shot.

Understand that being a good photographer is much more than that. But with out the knowledge of how the camera works, all the good and natural instincts in the world will only result in SOME good shots and a lot more mediocre ones.

Here is a quick glossary of terms that are commonly used in the Internet Marketing space. If you know of one that I forgot please let me know and I will update the post.

Ad Scheduling
In internet marketing, Ad Scheduling is the practice of scheduling the day into several parts, during each of which a different t advertising rule is applied based on advertising objective, budget, and competitors.

Affiliate
A marketing partner that promotes your product or services under a pay-for-results agreement.

Avatar
A digital representation of a user in a virtual reality site.

Average Page Depth
The average number of pages on a site that visitors view during a single session.

Bot
Abbreviation for robot (also called a spider). It refers to software programs that scan the web. Bots vary in purpose from indexing web pages for search engines to harvesting e-mail addresses for spammers

Browser
An application used to view information from the Internet. Browsers provide a user-friendly interface for navigating through and accessing the vast amount of information on the Internet.

Cloaking
Cloaking describes the technique of serving a different page to a search engine spider than what a human visitor sees. This technique is abused by spammers for keyword stuffing. Cloaking is a violation of the Terms Of Service of most search engines and could be grounds for banning.

Content Network
A group of Web sites that agree to show ads on their site, served by an ad network, in exchange for a share of the revenue generated by those ads.
Online: Google AdSense or Yahoo Publisher Network.

Content (A/B) Testing
Testing the relative effectiveness of multiple versions of the same advertisement, or other content, in referring visitors to a site. Multiple versions of content can be uniquely identified by using a utm_content variable in the URL tag.

Cascading Style Sheet (file.css)

CTA
Abbreviation for Content Targeted Advertising. It refers to the placement of relevant PPC ads on content pages for non-search engine websites.

Directory
An index of websites based mainly on human editing and categorization. In most cases the content is submitted to the directory, the editorial team will then approve a title and description and place the URL in an appropriate category. For example, Yahoo! is a human edited directory.

Domain
A domain is the main subdivision of Internet addresses, the last three letters after the final dot, and it tells you what kind of organization you are dealing with. There are six top-level domains widely used: .com (commercial) .edu (educational),.net (network operations), .gov (US government), .mil (US military) and .org (organization). Other, two letter domains represent countries; thus;.uk for the United Kingdom, .dk for Denmark, .fr for France, .de for Germany, .es for Spain, .it for Italy and so on.

Flame
An intentionally crude or abusive email message or usenet post. Rule: Don't do it. Ever. Not only is it bad etiquette, you leave a trail.

Flash
A vector based animation program that has become a popular technology used to deliver content. Currently search engines have difficulty indexing flash effectively as robots cannot read the text that is held within.

Geo Targeting
Delivery of ads specific to the geographic location of the searcher. Geo-targeting allows the advertiser to specify where ads will or won't be shown based on the searcher's location, enabling more localized and personalized results.
Online: Local Internet Marketing

Googlebot - The name of the spider used by Google. Instructions to Googlebot can be directed in the robots.txt file. Googlebot statistics can be viewed with web analytics software, on web server logs, and in Google webmaster tools.

Google Dance - Some internet marketers reference "Google Dance" as the time just after the search engine results pages change because of a change in Google algorithms. Usually webmasters and marketers who lost top ranking and keyword placements were the ones who told the "Google Dance" story.

Inbound Link
An inbound link is an hyperlink to a particular Web page from an outside site, bringing traffic to that Web page. Inbound links important because many search engine algorithms use the quality and quantity of inbound links to measure the popularity of a Web page.

Infopreneur
Someone who starts up a business in information technology or online communications.

Keyword Research
Keyword research includes the processes and methodologies to research key words that would be used for search and internet marketing campaigns.

Keyword Marketing
Keyword Marketing is the act, process, or technique of promoting, selling, and distributing a product or service on-line.

KEI
Keyword Effectiveness Index

Newsgroup
A discussion group on Usenet devoted to talking about a specific topic. Currently, there are over 15,000 newsgroups. Also called usenets, newsgroups consist of messages posted on electronic bulletin boards. Each board has a theme, and there are tens of thousands of newsgroups concerning every imaginable topic. Many of them cover professional subjects and societies and are rich sources of business information; others are junk and contain little but mindless drivel.

in/Opt out
An email marketing promotion that typically gives consumers an opportunity to "opt in" (taking action to be part of the promotion) or to "opt out" (taking action to not be part of the promotion). Marketers can be sensitive about the distinction, although many are secretly anxious about the day when email, like real-world direct mail, becomes an opt-out medium.

Overture
Formerly known as Overture and originally known as GoTo was acquired by Yahoo and represents Yahoo Search Marketing and is the most widely used pay per click search engine. Overture supplies results for some of the most popular search engines and search portals, including AltaVista, GO, HotBot, iWon, Lycos, MSN Search and others.

Pay-per-Click
An advertising pricing model in which advertisers pay agencies based on how many consumers clicked on a promotion. Condemned by advertisers and agencies alike for its many marketing vagaries and technical loopholes.

Pay-per-Impression
An advertising pricing model in which advertisers pay agencies based on how many consumers see their promotions.

PPC
Pay Per Click. A type of campaign or service which applies a CPC price to relevant keyword phrases to easily and accurately calculate positioning, online marketing costs and ROI for your website. As opposed to a Maintenance or Optimization SEO campaign, the client only pays for the traffic that is provided, based on the agreed CPC.

Quality Score
A score assigned by search engines that is calculated by measuring an ad's clickthrough rate, analyzing the relevance of the landing page, and considering other factors used to determine the quality of a site and reward those of higher quality with top placement and lower bid requirements. Some factors that make up a quality score are historical keyword performance, the quality of an ad's landing page, and other undisclosed attributes. All of the major search engines now use some form of quality score in their search ad algorithm.

Search Terms

SEO
Search Engine Optimization is the ongoing process of making a site and its content highly relevant for both search engines and searchers. SEO includes technical tasks to make it easier for search engines to find and index a site for the appropriate keywords, as well as marketing-focused tasks to make a site more appealing to users. Successful search marketing helps a site gain top positioning for relevant words and phrases.

Social Media
A category of sites that is based on user participation and user-generated content. They include social networking sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, or My Space, social bookmarking sites like Del.icio.us, social news sites like Digg or Simpy, and other sites that are centered on user interaction.

Squeeze Page
A page that promises to deliver some type of information when the visitor enters in some personal information. Typically it is as simple as a name and email. This information can then be used to market to the visitor later.

Submission
Refers to content submitted or suggested to a search engine or directory. Several search engines and directories supply forms for users to complete to suggest or pay for content to be included. In most cases the actual submission should be optimized to include relevant keyword phrases to increase the chances of being found in a search.

Unique Users
The total number of different users, or different computer terminals which have visited a Web site. This is measured using advanced tracking technology or user registration.

Universal Search

Upload
To send a file from one computer to another via modem or other telecommunication method.

URL
Uniform Resource Locator, an HTTP address used by the World Wide Web to specify a certain site. This is the unique identifier, or address, of a web page on the Internet. URL can be pronounced "you-are-ell" or "earl." It is how web pages, ftp's, gophers, newsgroups and even some email boxes are located.

Zine
Magazines that are published digitally, rather than on paper. Some are mainstream, others are oddball and cover almost every topic imaginable
